The event will feature two competition-focused projects, Competition for Transparency, a project based in Ghana, and Competition in the Branchless Banking Agent Market: Effects, Strategic Responses, and the Role of Trust and Fairness, a project based in Indonesia.

The speakers include Prof. Apoorv Gupta, Associate Professor at the Department of Economics, Dartmouth College and Prof. Gianmarco León-Ciliotta, Associate Professor at Pompeu Fabra University as presenters; and Prof. Peter Quartey, ReFinD Executive Director and ISSER Director at University of Ghana; Mr. Mutashobya A. Mushumbisi, Assistant Manager, Retail Payment System at the Bank of Tanzania; Ms Winta Yohannes, Founder and Managing Partner at Axiom Ventures PLC, Ethiopia, as panelists. The discussions will be moderated by Hugo Pacheco, Chief Product and Growth Officer at Papersoft

The main objectives of the ReFinD Webinar Series are to: bring together academia, policymakers, and commercial providers to undertake evidence-led deliberation on competition in agent network development; highlight emerging data, insights, and use cases on competition and agent network development across LMIC; and raise awareness among policymakers and commercial providers on the relevance of integrating evidence in the design and implementation of policies and strategies targeted at competition in the agent network industry.

The maiden edition on 9 November 2023 is expected to draw stakeholders from Indonesia, Ghana, and other countries and foster evidence-led insights and interactions on the topic. It will also provide an opportunity for the researchers to garner inputs from stakeholders to inform and enhance the uptake potential of their work.

Participation is free. Register to attend and be part of the discussions.
