Ms. Rashmi Pillai is Wave’s Group Head of Public Policy. She is a global leader with 17+ years of experience in impact investing, digital financial services, inclusive and competitive financial markets policy and regulation—across Africa and South Asia.
She was previously CEO of Financial Sector Deepening Uganda. Prior to that she worked with CGAP at the World Bank and UNCDF as a digital financial services specialist. Rashmi is also the co-founder of the Sankalp Forum one of the largest impact investing deal flow platforms which has expanded from South Asia to East Africa. She holds two masters - one is public policy from Harvard Kennedy School of Government in the US on a Fulbright Scholarship in 2014. The second is a Masters in Spectroscopic Physics in 2004 from M.S. University Baroda.
Rashmi is passionate about financial markets that are gender inclusive and equitable. Rashmi has worked in multiple South Asian and African markets but has settled in Uganda for over a decade and now proudly calls it home.
