The research aims to understand whether agent misconduct exists in an environment with few agents, the factors driving such misconduct, its development over time, and its impact on first-time users' adoption of mobile money. To explore these questions, the study proposes an exploratory research involving a mystery shopping survey conducted across 61 villages in Dosso, Niger.
This exploratory research will help measure and better understand the misconduct phenomenon, identify which agents are more likely to engage in misconduct, the conditions under which misconduct arises, and identify potential interventions on both the supply and demand sides in this nascent market.
