The ReFinD Research Initiative convened a networking session in India, aimed at fostering collaboration between ReFinD and research communities across Asia. Held in partnership with the Inclusion Economics India Centre (IEIC), the event also aimed to promote and solicit applications for the third request for proposals (ReFinD RFP3).
Taking place on 23 April at the Eros Hotel in New Delhi, the session provided a platform for an enriching exchange of insights and information. Dr. Vinay Nagaraju, Executive Director of IEIC, set the tone by highlighting the potential for enduring collaborations between ReFinD and Asian research institutions, drawing on the historical ties between Ghana and India.
Prof. Peter Quartey, the Executive Director of ReFinD, emphasized Initiative’s commitment to expanding partnerships across South East Asia and South Asia. He encouraged the participants to engage with the ReFinD RFP3 and extend invitations to their networks. Prof. Quartey provided a detailed overview of ReFinD's objectives, research focus, grant categories, application requirements, and the deadline of May 17, 2024, for RFP3 submissions.
Dr. Daniel Osarfo, a Post-Doctoral Fellow with ReFinD, then guided participants through the application portal, ensuring accessibility for potential applicants. Interactive discussions followed, during which Prof. Quartey and the ReFinD team addressed attendees' concerns, fostering a deeper understanding of funding and collaboration opportunities for research institutions.
The visiting team, which also comprised Communications Manager Vicentia Quartey and Research Assistant Derek Walt-Collins, engaged in one-on-one interactions, enriching the discourse with their expertise.
The networking session, facilitated by ReFinD and IEIC, reflects a shared commitment to advancing research initiatives promoting financial inclusion. It forms part of ReFinD RFP3 stakeholder engagement efforts, aimed at increasing participation from Asia-based research institutions.
